The Athenex Construction Team and the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation teamed up for the Divots for Dunkirk Golf Tournament. Dunkirk charitable organizations will benefit from the more than $65,000 raised from this tournament.

Some 140 golfers registered for this event. Joining the golfers as they registered and enjoyed lunch were Lala and Lucy from Lakeshore Humane Society accompanied by volunteers Bob Ehrheart and Rich Carpenter.

The following nonprofit organizations were the major winners for the day: Lakeshore Humane Society, Camp Gross Foundation, Chautauqua County Rural Ministry, Literacy Volunteers of Chautauqua County, Boys & Girls Club of Northern Chautauqua County, the Dunkirk Senior Center, Chautauqua Adult Day Services in Dunkirk, St. Columban’s On the Lake, Revitalize Dunkirk, Historical Society of Dunkirk, Dunkirk-Fredonia Meals on Wheels, Hispanics Organization for Progress and Education (HOPE), Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc., Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, The Chautauqua Center, and El Rigby Theater.

Guest speakers Ehrheart and Hector Rosas of HOPE, spoke about their nonprofit organizations and how they support the local community.

Mayor Wilfred Rosas was enthusiastic about what is happening in Dunkirk and the importance of working together to strengthen Dunkirk. “I want to thank Lee and Carrie Ogle, NCCF, all the contractors involved, and everyone who participated in this event. This group has already raised over $100,000 for our community in northern Chautauqua County! To see all the local organizations that will benefit from these funds is certainly something our community is very grateful for.”
